Self-esteem is about knowing you are lovable.

Santa Ana, CA (PRWEB) February 05, 2015

Self-esteem and its erosion begin early in life for girls. For teen girls and young women the lack of self-esteem can create a void resulting in a lack of self love. Helping girls and young women find their value, and assure them they are not alone, is at the core of two newly published books Whole Heart for Girls and Whole Heart for Young Women by clinical psychologist Dr. Amy Stark.

“Whole Heart for Girls is for parents of young girls to begin to discuss self-esteem with their children at a younger age,” said Dr. Stark, “by reading about it, discussing it and hopefully demonstrating it.” She said it also teaches children that self-esteem does not come from being the best at anything or being perfect. “Self-esteem is about knowing you are lovable,” according to Dr. Stark.

Research reveals social media is contributing to the lack of self-esteem in girls and young women. “Lies are published and believed, which is hurtful,” Dr. Stark said. “My new books can help girls and young women understand they are not alone in their lack of self love.”

Whole Heart for Young Women is a poignant reminder of how teens and young women forget their value and the author explores how to find it again. While young women can be hard on themselves, expect so much and rarely give themselves credit, Dr. Stark reminds them, “We are all in this together. Be kind to each other.”

Whole Heart for Girls and Whole Heart for Young Women are each priced at $7.99. The books are available at amazon.com, Barnes Noble and independent booksellers. For more information, go to http://www.dramystark.com
