Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Murphy Jr. of Hopkinton announce the engagement of their daughter, Susan, to Roger Demers, son of Dr. and Mrs. Chadwick Squires of Laconia.

Murphy earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Guilford College and a masters in business administration degree from Northeastern University. She is a marketing coordinator for Landvest in Concord.

Demers earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in fluid dynamics from the University of New Hampshire. He is an engineer for GE.

A Sept. 8 wedding is planned.
