The Psi Chi honor society and the Psychology Club at Midwestern State University volunteered on Saturday morning to help clean up Sikes Lake.
The heavy rainfall in May and June caused a leak in the dike and now the lower waters are exposing the bottom of the lake.
The organization decided to volunteer at 9 a.m. to clean up the trash in the lake.
"They are down there in the dirt right now," assistant psychology professor, Aisha Siddiqui, said. "They are in mud. It is totally gross, but they are enjoying themselves because they see that Midwestern State University is going to be so much better from the work that they are doing."
The main goal of the event was to support and give back to the campus.
