Most Appreciated and Disliked College Majors by Employers

Psychology is undoubtedly a fascinating and wonderful field. A Bachelor’s degree in psychology is a research oriented degree and will prepare an individual to pursue a post graduate pathway towards coursework, professional or research intense degrees. It will help you develop and hone job critical skills such as critical thinking, logic, etc. This degree will structure and challenge ones philosophical perspective and will help them to make sense of the world around them and their unique place in it. Bachelor’s degree in psychology is an ideal platform from which to launch a career of the mind and land a job in fields such as medicine, law or economics.

But unfortunately, the job opportunities in this field are very few and far in-between. As per the ‘Hard Times’ report, recent graduates in this field had a high unemployment rate of about 10.8 percent, while experienced grads had an employment rate of 6.8 percent.

As per Heathfield, a bachelor’s degree in this field fails to provide the necessary job critical skills that can be incorporated at work, unless students opt for advanced studies.
