Meet LJCDS Social Science Teacher Jonathan Sammartino

Jonathan Sammartino joins La Jolla Country Day School’s History Department as an Upper School Social Sciences Teacher, under the direction of Rod Jemison, Upper School Director.

Prior to joining LJCDS, Jonathan taught psychology at the University of California, Berkeley and at the University of California, San Diego.

Jonathan’s classes included: Sensation and Perception, Illusions and the Brain, Psychology of Consciousness, and History of Psychology.

In addition to teaching in the UC System, Jonathan has co-taught classes in Multimedia Arts and Digital Photography at Berkeley City College.

Jonathan received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Digital Art Photography from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Jonathan is excited to return to La Jolla Country Day, where he spent his formative years as a student from Pre-K through 6th grade. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, biking, watching movies, and reading.
