Massachusetts Attitude: Quiz Reveals Moods in Each State

By Les Masterson and Susan Jenkins

Neurotic and open are terms that you can
call Bay Staters. Agreeable and conscientious? Not so much.

That's the finding in a new "mood map" featured on the TIME website that shows ratings for each state based on dominant personality traits and attitudes.

The TIME map and quiz are based on a
study published in the Journal of
Personality and Social Psychology.
 The online
quiz asks 10 questions about how people see themselves.

Massachusetts was ranked third in neuroticism and seventh in openness, but
ranked 37th in extroversion, 40th in agreeableness and 48th in conscientiousness.
