Hickory N.C. – Six students from Lenoir-Rhyne University recently joined Dr. Nikki Vasilas, assistant professor of counseling, and Dr. Gordon Cappelletty, assistant professor of psychology on a trip to Nashville, TN for the 60th annual conference of the Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA). A total of seven papers and posters were presented using research conducted over the past year.
The purpose of SEPA is to advance psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare. Their mission is to stimulate the exchange of scientific and professional ideas across the diverse areas of psychological inquiry and application.
The papers and posters were presented by:

Amanda Young, Laura Martorano, and Lindsay Kozak – Relationship between symptomatology and personality traits in a clinical sample
Dr. Gordon Cappelletty, Yanepsi Alvarado, and Carolina Robles – Verbal intelligence as a protective factor in abused children.
Laura Martorano – Relationship and gender effects on disclosure of child sexual abuse
Emily Young and Dr. Gordon Cappelletty – The relationship between 2D:4D ratio and facial attractiveness in males
