Lisbon Central School District hires administrator to replace Karen Carswell

LISBON — Lisbon Central School District will welcome a new administrator after the holiday break.

The Board of Education Wednesday unanimously approved hiring Staci A. Vaughn.

Superintendent Erin E. Woods said Ms. Vaughn will chair the committees on special education and preschool special education and will be school psychologist.

“She brings experience and knowledge of all students with special needs in our district,” Ms. Woods said.

Ms. Vaughn worked through the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services as Lisbon’s school psychologist for three years before taking the same position this school year at the Thousand Islands Central School District, where she also is chairwoman of the committees on special education and preschool special education.

Ms. Vaughn will be paid a prorated $75,000 beginning with her Jan. 3 start date.

Ms. Vaughn holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Cazenovia College, a master’s degree in educational psychology and statistics and a certificate of advanced study in school psychology from the University at Albany and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from St. Lawrence University, Canton.

She replaces Karen L. Carswell, who became principal of Hammond Central School.
