Linnea Beyer Named New Director Of Southeast Psych Studios

Southeast Psych, a large psychological practice in Charlotte, announced this week that Linnea Beyer has accepted the position of Director of Southeast Psych Studios. Ms. Beyer, a graduate of The University of Virginia, has worked with The Light Factory since 2008, most recently as The Director of Film and Video. The Light Factory is a nationally-recognized museum of photography and film that has had a tremendous impact on the Charlotte arts community over the past four decades.

With Southeast Psych Studios, Ms. Beyer will produce videos and short films that highlight how psychology can improve people's lives, with a special emphasis on promoting resiliency. "Southeast Psych Studios helps us get psychology out to the public in really fun and creative ways," said Dr. Frank Gaskill, one of practice's managing partners, adding, "Linnea is going to bring us to the next level."

"Psychology has always been a personal passion of mine," said Beyer. "I'm so excited to have a job that merges my love of film and psychology and gives me the opportunity to help people in my community." Beyer's work in shepherding The Light Factory's film program over the past several years has allowed her to establish deep relationships in Charlotte's business and artistic communities. "Linnea has that rare combination of technical skills, creative vision, and personal qualities, along with the community connections, that make us thrilled to have her here," said Dr. Dave Verhaagen, the company's CEO.

"We want to create positive and even fun portrayals of psychology and Linnea helps us get our message out to more people and more organizations," said Dr. Craig Pohlman, Director of Southeast Psych's Mind Matters program. Pohlman believes the message of positive psychology will resonate with people. "She completely gets what we are trying to do. It's a great match." Verhaagen said the redesigned Southeast Psych Studios website is due to be launched later this month.
