Lecturer booked for ‘wrong marks’

The Shimla police (East) on Saturday booked a lecturer of psychology at the Government Senior Secondary School in Sanjauli for criminal breach of trust following allegations that she awarded practical examination marks to students without evaluating their answer sheets last year.

Shimla Superintendent of the Police, Sonal Agnihotri said here on Sunday that the police had received a complaint from the state education director O P Sharma stating that the incident related to lecturer Bhawan Sharma, then posted at the Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Portmore. She had allegedly awarded marks for practical examinations to Class XI and XII students during the March 2011 exams without evaluating their answer sheets. The matter was earlier reported to the education director by Sushma Kaushal, an assistant director (education) at the Directorate of Elementary Education. Kaushal was the Principal at Portmore School when the incident occurred, say officials of the education department.
