Judge: Ensure vouchers don’t promote segregation

HARAHAN, La. - For A.J. and Terri Valenti, their view of the sprawling oak trees and manicured grounds of the former Colonial Country Club will soon become a thing of the past.

"To come in tear all of this up and put a shopping center here, I can't understand it," says Valenti.

Thursday night, the Harahan City Council voted 3 to 2 to rezone 15 acres of the property to commercial despite passionate pleas from nearby residents to vote against it.
