Jenna Bush to grads: Take risks

BRIDGEPORT -- Jenna Bush Hager told nearly 1,200 graduating Southern Connecticut State University students Friday to take risks and follow their intuitions.

"The best is yet to come," she said at the Webster Bank Arena.

It was her first commencement address, she said. "I will always remember this day."

Hager told students about her experiences in college as President George Bush's daughter, her experiences as a UNICEF volunteer in Latin America and as a teacher in Baltimore.

Among the graduates was Genevieve Healey, 81, who completed her bachelor's degree in liberal arts after 14 years. "I've had a lot of homework," she said.
