Jackson Memorial Student Scores Perfect on SAT

With a full load of advanced placement courses – AP American Literature, AP Psychology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus and AP Physics — and a very full plate of clubs and activities, student Kevin Ugarte from Jackson Memorial High School has an academic record that is strong and impressive. With the recent announcement that he has also earned a perfect 800 score on the math portion of the SAT this winter, he adds yet another distinction to the list of his accomplishments.

“Kevin is the type of student that teachers find great pleasure in teaching simply because he truly appreciates the learning process,’’ said his guidance counselor Maryann Stenta. “He is passionate, determined, and will be the first to debate a topic that others may not be comfortable with.  Kevin is self-assured in the roles he has chosen and his work ethic is top notch.’’

Ugarte’s list of achievements includes:

  • High Honor Roll
  • AP Scholar with Honors
  • Spanish National Honor Society
  • National Honor Society President
  • Science National Honor Society
  • Math League
  • Interact Club
  • Soccer

The Jackson Board of Education recently recognized him for his latest achievement on the SAT at the Jan. 17th meeting.

“Students like Kevin are a source of pride for the entire community,’’ said Board of Education President Sharon Dey. “It was an honor for the board to recognize him for this wonderful achievement and to promote his success to everyone. He has worked hard and deserves for people to know it.’’
