How psychology students progress

New research has looked at the ways in which A-level students decide to progress with their psychology study. Investigators from the University of Worcester considered how people further their study at degree level, with the initial results of the research presented at our annual conference last month.

The study has formed part of a wider project funded by the Society and the Higher Education Academy and Dr Tim Jones, Programme Lead for Psychology at the university, emphasised the importance of the move from pre-tertiary to higher education for individuals as part of their academic progression.

Dr Jones, who is also Chairman of the Division of Academics, Researchers and Teachers in Psychology, added "understanding the challenges and expectations faced by students will enable us to better prepare our students in this journey".

Two students from the university were able to attend the symposium at the conference thanks to funding from Dr Jones - something he said he was delighted to facilitate.

Following the success of our 2013 conference in Harrogate, we are already looking forward to Birmingham 2014.  Save the date in your diary (7-9 May) and be sure to look out for further news of our call for submissions across the Summer.  Our confirmed keynote speakers are Professor Sir Simon Wessely, author Ben Shephard, Professor Marinus van IJzendoorn, Susan van Scoyoc and Professor John Aggleton.
