Heidelberg Heights physio wins WorkSafe Award

A HEIDELBERG Heights health practitioner has been recognised in the annual WorkSafe Victoria Awards.

Physiotherapist Nick Economos was named winner of the "Treating Health Practitioner Achievement'' category for his  achievements in returning injured employees to safe and sustainable work.

The Empower Rehab director said he and psychologist Jacqui Stanford combined physiotherapy and psychology to treat injured workers holistically.

More than 500 employers, employees and safety industry stakeholders from across the state watched on Thursday as 11 winners received honours at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

WorkSafe's acting chief executive Ian Forsyth congratulated all the winners on an outstanding achievement.

"These individuals and businesses highlight the importance and benefits of making health, safety and return to work a priority in the workplace,'' Mr Forsyth said.

"They have shown, through their actions and ideas, that it's possible to do more. They had the foresight to recognise this potential  and the determination to put their ideas into practice."
