Who Are Our Counselors?

Dr. Maryam Bachmeier

Dr. Bachmeier is a doctor of Clinical Psychology and a licensed Clinical Psychologist in both California and Guam, providing clinical services to individuals within the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, as well as consultation to the department. Dr. Bachmeier is also a published author who has been working in the mental health field for over 13 years.

Heena Khan

Heena Khan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (LPC intern) in the State of Texas. She also holds the credential of National Certified Counselor (NCC). Mrs. Khan has worked with children and adults in various settings and has experience in individual, group, family therapy and diagnostic assessments. All of the Mrs. Khan's cases are reviewed and supervised by her supervisor, Jennifer Jenkins, LPC-S.

Aliah F. Azmeh

Aliah F. Azmeh is a licensed clinical social worker who practices in Detroit, Michigan. Aliah graduated with a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2007 and has experience working in the United States and overseas. Aliah currently works as a clinical social worker and provides individual, family, and marital counseling at Muslim Family Services in Detroit, MI. 

Attia Zaidi

Attia Zaidi is a writer, educator, social worker and mother. She has worked with the GTA's Muslim community for over 15 years in various capacities. Currently, Attia runs a small private practice offering therapy for Muslim families. You can find it at: http://www.restoreyourelement.com/

Dr. Feryad Hussain

Dr. Hussain holds a practitioner Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and has worked as a clinical psychologist in London for a number of years. Dr Hussain has worked in a range of clinical settings with differing populations. She has also worked as a supervisor with trainee clinical psychologists and as a research consultant/ academic supervisor, both in the UK and abroad. She is author of a number of research articles and is awaiting publication of her book focusing on character development within an Islamic framework. Her most recent post was as Associate Professor, Dept of Psychology at the International Islamic University, Malaysia. She is currently carrying out private research and consultancy in the discipline of Islam and Clinical Psychology/ Psychotherapy with a number of psychological organizations.

Dr. 'Abd. Lateef Krauss Abdullah

Dr. Abdullah holds a doctorate from the Institute for Community Peace Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia, in the field of youth studies. He has worked as a Program Assistant at the Academy for Educational Development in Washington DC, and at the Taqwa Gayong Academy in New Jersey, USA and Penang, Malaysia with troubled youth, both Muslim and non-Muslim.

Dr. Raziah Bhatti Ali

Dr. Bhatti Ali is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist qualified since 1992. She worked clinically in the NHS and the private sector as well as providing consulting services to the family courts and medico-legal firms. She has strong international academic links and considerable experience in cross cultural assessment and therapy.

Dr. Najma M. Adam

Najma M. Adam, Ph.D., L.C.S.W. is the Director of Adam Associates Counseling Services, Inc. Dr. Adam has many years of experience and has taught at several universities in the Chicagoland area. She actively conducts research and publishes. She received her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work and her Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration. Sakeena Abdulraheem

Sakeena Abdulraheem holds an MA in Social studies with a concentration in Islamic studies from the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences. She is currently completing her M.A.in counseling psychology with a concentration in trauma counseling. She has extensive experience working as a teacher, mentor, and consultant.
