Graduate student to work with veterans

Elizabeth Klingaman, formerly of Catonsville, earned a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Maryland in May. She achieved a 3.9 grade point average.

Klingaman completed a one-year internship at the Denver Veterans Administration Medical Center, where she provided assessment, intervention and consultation to veterans and their families. .

An alumna of South Carroll High School, where she was co-valedictorian, she graduated magna cum laude from Mary Washington College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in historic preservation and psychology. She later completed a master's program in clinical psychology at Loyola College.

She has been awarded a two-year, post-doctoral fellowship from the Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center to conduct research, clinical intervention and education on wellness, rehabilitation and recovery for veterans with serious mental and medical illnesses.

The daughter of Mike and Meg Klingaman, of Sykesville, is the granddaughter of Ann Klingaman, of Columbia, and George Park, of Palm Coast, Fla.
