Free business psychology workshop – Vallejo Times

The psychology of successful business operations is the subject of a Solano College Small Business Development Center "Retail Profitability Tactics" workshop planned for 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday (June 3) at the school's Vallejo Center, room 136, 545 Columbus Parkway, organizers announced.

Consumer psychologist and retailing consultant, Bruce D. Sanders, presents techniques for setting prices, launching sales promotions, increasing purchase size, changing shoppers' preferences and ensuring customers return soon, according to the announcement. Participants will receive a copy of Sanders' book, "Retailer's Edge: Boost Profits Using Shopper Psychology," organizers said.

Funded by a Wells Fargo Foundation community development grant to the center, there is no participation fee for owners and operators of small to mid-size retail businesses, organizers said, though enrollment is limited to 20 retailers and advance registration is required.

Free one-on-one follow-up counseling by center business advisors will also be available to help retailers implement the strategies learned in the workshop, the announcement says.

This workshop is for:

* The owners / operators of any small to mid-sized business which sells products and/or services to local residents.

* Those prepared to devote time and resources to increase the profitability of a stable business.

* Those willing to discuss details of their operations in one-to-one in-store consultations with a center business advisor.

* Those motivated to work corroboratively with other local retailers to build and maintain a profitable business community.
