Fifth-grader wins Lange Elementary contest with ‘psychology’
It’s hard to say if fifth-grader Michael Allen psyched out the competition in the Dorothea Lange Elementary School spelling bee held Thursday, March 21. But it is certain he won the bee by correctly spelling the word “psychology” apparently much to his own surprise, judging from his reaction. A student in the classroom of Rachel Hess, Michael earned cheers from his classmates as he outspelled 17 other students from fourth through sixth grades to take the championship.
