Dr. Isa Ribadu, assistant professor of psychology, and Dr. Anne Spillane, assistant professor of special education, provided the keynote addresses for the inaugural Fairfield campus lecture series on April 25. “Autism Awareness in the Community, Supports Services” attracted educators, psychology students, parents and a young man with autism spectrum disorder, said campus director Linda Montenegro.

Participants were invited to stay for an information session about Brandman following the event. Ribadu, Spillane and Fairfield academic advisor Karyn Lawrence met with students who were interested in hearing more about Brandman University’s education and psychology programs.

The autism lecture was the first what the campus plans to make a quarterly lecture series. The next lecture is expected to cover diagnosing mental illness and the changes to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Date and time will be announced closer to the lecture.
