GRAND RAPIDS, MI - In a talk at Aquinas College on Monday, Nov. 10, a psychology professor will discuss "The Neurobiology of Trauma."

Rebecca Campbell, a psychology professor at Michigan State University, will examine how the brain and body respond to major forms of trauma such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, military combat, witnessing a homicide or major crime and being an officer involved in a shooting.

Campbell also will talk about how trauma affects a victim's behavior and what they remember following a traumatic event.

Campbell is a faculty member on the Research Consortium on Gender-Based Violence. Her research is focused on violence against women and how legal, medical and mental systems respond to rape survivors.

Her talk, which is open to the public, will be presented by Aquinas College's Jane Hibbard Idema Women's Studies Center. Here are details about the talk:
