St. John’s High School celebrating Homecoming

DELPHOS — This weekend, St. John’s High School will be celebrating homecoming, one of the school’s many long-standing traditions.

The 2015 St. John’s homecoming court was nominated and selected by their high school cohorts. The Blue Jays will honor the homecoming court on Friday evening as they host the New Bremen Cardinals in a MAC football matchup.

Crestview announces Homecoming activities

CONVOY — This year’s Crestview High School homecoming theme is “A Fall Festival,” with festivities kicking off next week with a Spirit Week full of activities.

Junior and senior girls will face off at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the annual Powder Puff game with the homecoming parade to follow. The night will conclude with the CHS cheerleaders hosting a bonfire at Edgewood Park. The crowning of the homecoming king and queen will take place at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2 before the Knights taking on Ada for the fall homecoming game. The last event of the weekend will be the homecoming dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 3 in the auditeria for students in grades 9 through 12.

Community members are encouraged to take part in the homecoming activities.

ONU psychology grads score in 98th percentile

ADA — The Ohio Northern University Department of Psychology, Sociology and Criminal Justice has announced that the 2015 graduating seniors in psychology, as a group, scored in the 98th percentile on the Major Field Test in psychology.

The mean score of the 221 institutions using the MFT in the 2014-15 academic year in psychology was 156. ONU psychology students scored 180.

The MFT in psychology assesses the mastery of concepts, principles and knowledge in graduating psychology students. Nearly 1,500 colleges and universities employ one or more of the MFTs for student achievement and curriculum evaluation each year.

UNOH to be featured on national television

LIMA — The University of Northwestern Ohio will be featured on national television this fall. The eight-minute feature segment will air within “Detroit Muscle” as part of the “PowerNation” block of shows on the following dates and times:

•10:30 a.m. Sunday, Spike TV

• 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1, NBC Sports Network

• 9:30 a.m. Oct. 3, CBS Sports Network

• 10:30 a.m., Nov. 1, Spike TV

• 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5, NBC Sports Network

• 9:30 a.m. Nov. 7, CBS Sports Network

PowerNation is a two-hour block of television programming and is a collection of automotive how-to shows including “Detroit Muscle,” “Engine Power,” “Xtreme Off Road” and “Truck Tech.”

The UNOH special will start with a five-minute feature on the university, specifically the College of Applied Technologies, followed by a commercial break. After the commercial break there will be a three-minute feature on the UNOH Motorsports Team.

Choral music celebration scheduled at ONU

ADA — The Ohio Northern University Department of Music will present a celebration of choral music as part of the ONU homecoming festivities at 8 p.m. Friday in the Snyder Recital Hall in the Presser Building. The event is free.

The evening’s program will begin with the ONU Men’s Chorus presenting a variety of glee club pieces, and the ONU Women’s Chorus will follow with popular musical settings voiced for women.

The ONU Chamber Singers will offer an assortment of styles in both Latin and English. Finishing the program will be the University Singers with music in German and English and a spiritual by Moses Hogan.

A capella group to perform two free shows

FINDLAY — Blue Jupiter, a world-touring a cappella quartet, will give two free performances Friday at The University of Findlay.

Blue Jupiter’s informal concert, as part of UF’s Music Bach’s Concert Series, will be held that day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union’s atrium. Individuals may pack a lunch or purchase one in The Cave and enjoy live music while eating. According to a news release, oftentimes individuals wish they could stay and listen longer during daytime Music Bach’s concerts. For this reason, Blue Jupiter has accepted an invitation to stay and perform a formal concert that will take place at 8 p.m. in Old Main’s Ritz Auditorium on the second floor, which is accessible by elevator located on the building’s west side.
