EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENTS

RADFORD - Six residents of Colonial Heights; five residents of Disputanta; and two residents of Petersburg have been named to the fall semester dean's list at Radford University.

The Colonial Heights residents are: Landry M. Doane, senior recreation, parks and tourism major; Russell Alexander Korb, sophomore music major; Christopher William Moore, junior computer science and technology major; Justin Blake Rodriguez, senior media studies major; Danielle Renee Searle, senior media studies major; and Luke A. Slate, senior criminal justice major.

The Disputanta residents are: Sara MacKenzie Eanes, sophomore media studies major; Emily Mabon Marshall, freshman exercise, sport and health education major; Thomas Van Keuren Powroznik, junior recreation, park and tourism major; Susan Meredith Powroznik, senior exercise, sport and health education major; and Tiffany Nicole Townsend, senior social work major.

The Petersburg residents are: Stacey Lynn Sadler, a junior art major; and Cassie Elizabeth Ivey a senior art major.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have taken 15 or more credit hours and have a grade point average of 3.4 or above with no grade below a C.

Radford University is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia.

LEXINGTON - The following local Virginia Military Institute cadets are among the 506 cadets who were recently named to the deans' list for the first semester of academic year 2011-12:

- Joshua C. Clements, a junior from Chesterfield, majoring in Civil Engineering. Cadet Clements's parents are Mr. Mrs. Joseph C. Clements.

- John I. Covert, a junior from Chester, majoring in Elect/Computer Engineering. Cadet Covert's parents are Mr. Mrs. Rory G. Covert.

- John E. Dommert, a junior from Chester, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Cadet Dommert's parents are Mr. Mrs. Gregory D. Dommert.

- Marlena E. Hawes, a recent graduate from Chesterfield, who majored in Biology. Cadet Hawes's parents are Mr. Mrs. Alvin K. Hawes.

- Micah J. Hosler, a sophomore from Colonial Heights, majoring in Biology. Cadet Hosler's parents are Lt. Col. Mrs. David R. Hosler Jr..

- Nathan R. Howard, a junior from Matoaca, majoring in Elect/Computer Engineering. Cadet Howard's parents are Mr. Mrs. Steven B. Howard.

- Roy M. Hunter II, a recent graduate from Hopewell, who majored in Biology. Cadet Hunter's parents are Mr. Mrs. Charles E. Hunter II.

- Kevin C. Jones, a junior from Chester, majoring in Psychology. Cadet Jones's parents are Mr. Mrs. James N. Jones.

- Cabell F. Willis, a sophomore from Chesterfield, majoring in History. Cadet Willis's parents are Mr. Mrs. Edward J. Willis III.

- Jeremy T. Lucier, a recent graduate from Chester, who majored in Psychology. Cadet Lucier's parent is Ms. Antonietta Lucier.

- Adam B. Morgan, a junior from Sutherland, majoring in Economics/Business. Cadet Morgan's parents are Mr. Mrs. William T. Morgan.

- John B. Partin Jr., a sophomore from Chester, majoring in Civil Engineering. Cadet Partin's parents are Lt. Col. Mrs. John B. Partin Sr..

- Samantha D. Price, a senior from Chester, majoring in Psychology. Cadet Price's parent is Ms. Sofia M. Bradham.

To be eligible for the dean's list, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.

VMI, with an enrollment of 1,500 cadets, is the nation's oldest state-supported military college.
