IN BRIEF

School psychologist honored

— John Ross Elementary School psychologist, Nicole Marler, has been named school psychologist of the year by the Oklahoma School Psychological Association. “I was shocked and humbled,” Marler said. “It is quite an honor to be nominated by your peers.” Marler has been at John Ross Elementary in the Edmond school district for three years. She served in the same capacity at Cross Timbers Elementary School. John Ross Principal Ruthie Riggs said Marler is an outstanding example of a dedicated professional who works diligently to assist students and families. “Nicole serves a crucial role in providing tiered support for all students,” Riggs said. “She guides our use of data to help students achieve success in both academics and behavior.” Marler says she has always enjoyed working with children. “I'm intrigued with behavior and how to teach children to do the right thing and help those who have different challenges that keep them from succeeding.” Marler received a master's degree in school psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma.
