Eastern University, a Pennsylvania Christian University, is pleased to announce that the new Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Concentration in the Counseling Psychology Department has recently been approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
According to Eastern University’s Dr. Walter S. Chung, CRC, BCBA-D, NCP, BCCP, LPC, Behavior Analyst, Clinical Counselor and Program Evaluation Consultant, and Professor, this means that Counseling Psychology students will not have to provide coursework documentation when they apply for certification, as Eastern’s coursework has been affirmed as meeting the educational requirements for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Examination.

The ABA curriculum also meets the educational requirements of the new Licensed Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania.  As the only Christian University with a BACB-approved program on the East Coast, Eastern University has already seen increased interest in this concentration.

The mission of the Applied Behavior Analysis Concentration is to train master’s level graduates who are competent in the use of behavioral and scientific based assessment, intervention/prevention strategies, and effective consultation for the promotion of learning socially appropriate behaviors in both school and community settings. They also seek to train graduates who are academically prepared to seek national certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and anticipated state credentialing as a Licensed Behavior Specialist.

Eastern University is a Philadelphia Christian university which integrates faith, reason and justice into all programs for its 4,400 students. The Counseling Department offers an M.A. in Counseling, an M.A. in School Counseling, and a M.A. in School Psychology.
