The International Child Abduction Research and Enlightenment Foundation (I CARE Foundation) is pleased to announce that Dr. Alex Gimon, PhD., a world reknown pediatric and neuropsychologist has joined the Foundation's Board of Directors and will oversee the foundation's research projects associated with all facets of international child abduction and child welfare.

Dr. Gimon's long and impressive professional history in the area of clinical statistical research, child psychology and development, child advocacy, and a deep understanding of issures that arise connected to the criminal act of internatinoal parental child abduction make him the ideal individual to lead the I CARE Foundation's research projects.

Alexander T. Gimon, PhD., is a licensed pediatric and neuropsychologist currently in private practice in the State of Florida. Dr. Gimon’s studies include a doctorate from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in psychology, child studies, statistics and research design. He has funded research grants at the Research Institute associated with Harvard University, the University of Puerto Rico, as well as numerous other child focused charitable organizations. As well as a professor of psychology, Dr. Gimon was also the director of research and evaluation for the bilingual education program at Boston University. Dr. Gimon is of Slovak heritage, and was a volunteer in one of the first groups sent by President Kennedy with the United States Peace Corp to the country of Venezuela, where again, his service was primarily focused on children’s programs. He is fluent in Spanish, and continues to work cross-culturally with families and children in a variety of issues, including high conflict parenting issues, child abuse, and parental alienation. He has been qualified as an expert in numerous courts over many years, representing children whenever possible, and is a strong child advocate.

Dr. Gimon commented, "I am both pleased and excited about the work the I CARE Foundation is doing, and feel privileged to be invited to the Board of Directors. We have a lot of work to do, and I hope my involvement will assist I CARE's efforts in research and education in this much needed area of child abduction."

I CARE Foundation Director and Tampa - St. Petersburg attorney Patricia Lee commented, "I am very pleased that Dr. Gimon is contributing his expertise to the ICARE Foundation. The psychological impact of child abduction upon children, as well as their parents, is profound and difficult to address. Many professionals in the psychological and legal fields do not understand, or have the resources to learn about this trauma. We have great hopes that Dr. Gimon will be able to give ICARE his professional expertise in working towards legitimization of the many psychological traumas involved with parental child abduction, including parental alienation syndrome, and the additional traumas associated with reunification of victimized families."

I CARE Foundation Director Peter Senese added, "It is a great privilege to have Dr. Gimon join the I CARE Foundation's Board of Directors. Dr. Gimon has a remarkable history of acting on behalf of children in need. As a skilled researcher and statistician, Dr. Gimon comes to I CARE as a highly respected child advocate possessing all the key understandings to oversee our research initiatives. Clearly, in the world of international child abduction, where research and accurate information is clearly lacking, adding Dr. Gimon to our Board not only gives the foundation another highly skilled researcher and writer, but a compassionate child advocate with a demonstrated history of overseeing complex research projects. It is an honor to have Dr. Gimon join our Board of Directors."

The Hague Convention on The Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction comes into play so long as the country where the child was abducted from and to are both Hague signatory states.

The International Child Abduction Research and Education Foundation (I CARE Foundation) is a non-profit organization established to primarily conduct research in the area of international parental child abduction, disiminate the findings of our studies, and create or modify existing government policies concerning international child abduction prevention or reunification based upon our findings. The foundation is also involved in educating professionals, including attorneys, of the many issues concerning international child abduction. One of its existing initiatives is to assist in building the Department of States' "Hague Convention Attorney Network."
