D. Beth Macy, PhD elected to Jung Center Board of Trustees

Macy Holdings is pleased to announce that D. Beth Macy, PhD has been elected to the C.G. Jung Educational Center Board of Trustees.


Dr. Macy’s Board Committee Assignments include the Curriculum Committee, which will determine the programming, courses and conferences, and the Planning Committee, which will develop the Center’s plan and priorities for the next few years.

About D. Beth Macy, PhD.

A seasoned and credentialed professional, Dr. Macy has focused on a common thread throughout her work history – change and how organizations deal with change. Her curiosity about effective change lead her to achieving masters and doctorate degrees in management focusing on organizational behavior and organizational theory. She holds a PH.D., Management, and MA, Management from the University of Nebraska and a BS in Psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Throughout her work life, Dr. Macy has been a manager or leader dealing with organizations experiencing difficult issues. The types of organizations she has lead, managed or consulted with have varied from small to large, private to public, non-profit to profit and health care to manufacturing.

As Deputy Director for Inpatient Services for the Nebraska Department of Public Institutions, she held leadership responsibility for Nebraska’s inpatient healthcare system with approximately 2,000 employees and 2,000 patients. She has practiced as an Organizational Development consultant to Shell Oil Company for over 10 years.

In her many roles, Dr. Macy has collaborated with CEO’s, Presidents, Directors, Senators, Congressmen, Governors, state agency directors and other senior managers in whole system strategic planning, restructuring, and organizational design.

Her customers report that Dr. Macy is straight-forward in putting issues on the table and giving direct feedback, even when the issues are difficult and conflicting. Often noted are her characteristics of being able to get down to basic issues and to develop succinct, outcome-oriented plans of resolution. Given the diverse range of her background, Dr. Macy’s offerings are not only highly focused, but also interesting, unique and memorable.

Her honors and awards are many. She was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to The President’s Committee on Mental Retardation, she received the Western Governors Association Mickelson Fellowship Award and the Outstanding Individual Service Award from the National Association of Developmental Disabilities Council, and the Nebraska Wesleyan University Alumnae Achievement Award.

About the C.G.Jung Educational Center

The C.G. Jung Educational Center of Houston, TX, Inc. was founded in 1958 by a group of women (Ruth Thacker Fry, Carolyn Grant Fay, Ethel Carradine Kurth, Alma Owen Lloyd and Ella Rice Winston) who had been studying the works of Dr. Carl Gustav Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist who founded analytical psychology. This discipline emphasizes the value of one’s creative forces and the development of the individual towards wholeness.

The oldest center of its kind in the world, the Jung Center of Houston exists to further Dr. Jung’s principles of analytical psychology. The mission of the C.G.
