Cynthia Baum, Ph.D. Appointed Chancellor of Argosy University








ORANGE, Calif., July 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Argosy University, a private academic institution with 28 campus locations in 13 states and online, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia G. Baum, Ph.D., as its chancellor.

Dr. Baum brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in post-secondary education, developing and implementing academic programs, and leading both programmatic and regional accreditation processes, to her role with the university. She most recently served as president of Walden University and held additional leadership roles during her tenure, including executive vice president overseeing Walden's five colleges and vice president of both the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the College of Health Sciences. Dr. Baum has served as a campus president and regional vice president for a number of institutions, including both Argosy University and The Art Institutes. She has also held faculty appointments with Virginia Tech and The Catholic University of America. 

Dr. Baum is also a clinical psychologist and prior to her experience in higher education she worked in the non-profit sector as assistant executive director for education at the American Psychological Association (APA). She has been recognized for her work in psychology education with several honors and awards, including a presidential citation from the American Psychological Association and the Advocacy Award of the Association for the Advancement of Psychology. She held leadership positions in organizations such as the Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy and is a past president of the National Council of Schools and Programs in Professional Psychology.

Her experience in graduate-focused higher education and clinical psychology will lend themselves well to Argosy University, which has one of the largest communities of graduate students in the nation, offering doctoral and master's degree programs in psychology, behavioral sciences, business, counseling and education. In her role, Dr. Baum will be responsible for oversight of the university and its eight colleges: College of Clinical Psychology, College of Behavioral Sciences, Graduate School of Business and Management, College of Education, College of Health Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Creative Arts and Design and Western State College of Law at Argosy University.

Dr. Baum holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia.
