Shopping center at the corner of Mayflower and Foothill
This post comes from reader Jaymie Wile who noticed a shopping center at Mayflower and Foothill was recently painted yellow. She was of the opinion that it was in need of an immediate re-paint job as were a majority of others who responded in the comments.

Reader Natalie Milazzo receives the Comment of the Week award for her effort in pointing out that the paint might could have negative psychological effects on passersby.

Natalie Milazzo July 19, 2013 at 12:11 pm Obviously the landlords did not do any research on the psychological effects of the color yellow. Yes yellow is a bright and cheery color but it is the color causes the most strain on the eye.
"Yellow can also create feelings of frustration and anger. While it is considered a cheerful color, people are more likely to lose their tempers in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms."-http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/a/color_yellow.htm "In Decoration, bright yellow rooms are often too intense, people may become irritated and nervous in a yellow room , children may have trouble sleeping and babies may cry more. Sometimes Yellow is used in areas where the goal is to move people through swiftly and discourage "hanging out"."-http://pjentoft.com/YELLOW.html I just don't understand why such a color would be used on a place of business, you want to attract customers not distract them!

La Cañada Flintridge
Is This Billboard 'Not Very La Cañada-ish'?

A billboard in La Cañada promoting the new movie Kick Ass 2 was the center of debate for readers. The billboard on Foothill Boulevard upset at least one reader who wrote in about it.

Here are a few responses to the article:

Rosalind Hayes July 19, 2013 at 09:02 am Not appropriate. It's my understanding that the only billboards left here in La Canada are those that were "grandfathered" in years ago. They were in situ before the city passed an ordinance against them. The 7/11 on Foothill/Alta Canyada is an example of that. Ugly and an eyesore, but legal. I'd like to know how much the city reaps from this kind of "business".

George L. July 18, 2013 at 01:40 pm So, billboards go away (whether it be through municipal code or not), its a movie and you will still see it on the sign in front of the movie theater. And that probably won't get taken down. At least it doesn't say "suck *ss" or "slappin' dat *ss"

kathryn July 19, 2013 at 02:15 pm I saw that billboard on my way to work yesterday and was shocked...that really isn't La Canad-ish. But they've been doing a lot of shady things lately so it doesn't surprise me. I definitely think they need to take it down...if I had young kids I would not be happy about it!

Trucks/Vehicles being stored on 210 Overpasses.

Carolyn wrote: Recently there are have been tractor trailers, tow trucks, and a beat up jeep with a boat attached parking on the Briggs and other overpasses. It is illegal to park on a bridge, why aren't these vehicles being ticketed? It seems these vehicles are being "stored" here.  We all pay taxes to live in a nice area and it starting to look like San Fernando Road in Glendale.
