College of Idaho lecture to explore connection between exercise, brain function

The College of Idaho will host a guest speaker as part of the Treasure Valley Psychology Lecture Series for the second consecutive year when University of Illinois professor Art Kramer presents “Take a Hike: Physical Activity, Cognition and Brain Function” at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, inside Langroise Auditorium on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Kramer is the director of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science Technology as well as the Swanlund Chair/professor of psychology and neuroscience at the University of Illinois. He received his Ph.D. in cognitive/experimental psychology from Illinois in 1984.

Kramer’s research projects include topics in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, aging and human factors. His work has been featured by a long list of print, radio and electronic media including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Today Show, NPR and Saturday Night Live.
