Awards

Erie native Andrea Mazzocchi, an engineering student at Rochester Institute of Technology, was awarded the 2015 Undergraduate Extended Abstract Design and Research Award for her work as part of a campus research team on a new biomedical membrane that could become the basis for improvements in tissue engineering, RIT recently announced. She was presented the award during the Biomedical Engineering Society's annual meeting and conference in Tampa, Fla., in October.

Mazzocchi was recognized with the society's top student award for the abstract titled, "Fabrication and characterization of ultrathin transparent glass membranes for cell culture."

 

Honors

Meredith Bollheimer, assistant professor of business/organizational leadership at Mercyhurst University, and organizational leadership graduate student Elissa Reitz published an article in The Seneca Falls Dialogues Journal Fall 2015. "The Disproportionate Impact of Toxins in Consumer Products" discusses the overuse and under-regulation of toxins in daily consumer products.
