Graduates

Lauren Morosky, of Fairview, graduated cum laude from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., on May 13.

Morosky was the recipient of the Stephanie Christie '82 Memorial Award in Psychology, which is awarded to a psychology major who has demonstrated a commitment to helping people with special needs.

Morosky is a member of the William Smith senior honor society, Hai Timiai, and will return to the school in the fall to pursue a master's degree in teaching and certification in early education/special education.

 

Erie native Michael Scott Chmielewski graduated from the University of Iowa in May with a Ph.D. in psychology.

 

Erie native Adam Reusche graduated cum laude from Ithaca College on May 17 with a bachelor's degree in TV and radio production and a minor in computer science.

Reusche moved to Boston on Aug. 1 to work as a content analyst for Pearson Education.

He is the son of Frank Reusche and Karen Bergamasco-Ruler.

 

Several local students graduated from Kent State University in May.

The graduates and the college or program within the university they earned degrees from include (degrees are bachelor's unless otherwise noted):

Milagro Jimenez, business administration, of Albion; Elizabeth Dine, education, of Cambridge Springs; Thomas Foulkrod, technology, and Holly Henderson, arts and sciences, both of Edinboro; Alison Stankiewicz, architecture and environmental design, of Fairview; Anthony DiPasqua, master's of education, of Girard; and Kristin Okel, education, health and human services, of McKean;

Patrick Evans, nursing, Michael Deck, arts and sciences, Matthew Salvia, master's of arts, Geena Hill, arts and sciences, Kimberly Wisniewski, business administration, Erin Korn, education, health and human services, and Ashley Lucas, architecture and environmental design, all of Erie.

Bettylou Perkins graduated summa cum laude from Grand Canyon University's online degree program on May 4.

She earned a master's of science in nursing with a focus on nursing education.

 

Achievements

David Wilson, of Millcreek Township, was inducted into the Rochester Institute of Technology chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, in March.

Wilson, a 2010 graduate of McDowell High School, is a third-year student in the school's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences studying software engineering. He was named to the dean's list for each quarter of his first two years.

Wilson spent the summer as an intern for Fidelity Investments in Durham, N.C.

 

Four Edinboro University master of fine art students or recent graduates had works shown during a national juried exhibition in Philadelphia over the summer.

Gratia Brown, Deric Ence, Kevin Rohde and Travis Winters had their ceramics work displayed, along with that of outstanding graduate art students from across the country, during the 9th Annual Marge Brown Kalodner Graduate Student Exhibition at Philadelphia's "Clay Studio" in July and August. Ence and Rohde graduated in May.

A total of 33 students from across the country submitted 85 works for the exhibition. The jury chose only 29 pieces from 17 student artists.

The exhibition is open only to students working in ceramics.
