CHICAGO, July 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The 2015 commencement ceremony of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology's (TCSPP) Chicago Campus is scheduled to feature the university's largest graduating class in its 36-year history. The more than 570 master's and doctoral degree candidates will graduate from 27 psychology and behavioral programs and concentrations at the annual ceremony taking place July 10 at the Arie Crown Theater at 1 p.m. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is the leading nonprofit graduate school devoted exclusively to psychology, and related behavioral and health sciences.

Representing the graduating class, student speaker Vivian Calderon Guzman is receiving her Master of Arts in Psychology degree from the Online Campus. Guzman was born in Puerto Rico and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida. A volunteer in her community and a mentor of at-risk youth, Calderon plans to further study how mental health is perceived across different cultures and to continue her work with at-risk youth.

"We are proud of our graduates," said Tiffany Masson, Psy.D., interim campus dean, Chicago Campus and vice president of E-Learning and Global Innovation. "They completed rigorous programming, worked hard to get to this point and are well-positioned to be successful in the next phase of their lives and careers. I have no doubt that our graduates will make a difference in the world of psychology, locally and globally. The healthcare landscape in the United States is changing dramatically, and I expect that many of our graduates will be leading the charge for solutions to the problems currently plaguing the system, particularly in the area of mental health."

Owen Duncan will accept the honorary degree on behalf of his mother, Sue Duncan, the founder of the Sue Duncan Children's Center. The 54-year old organization's mission is to build safe, supportive communities that strengthen families and motivate children to succeed. The Sue Duncan Center has been a TCSPP community partner for almost seven years.

The 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Joseph W. Kovach, Psy.D. will also address the graduates. A 1986 graduate of The Chicago School, Dr. Kovach is the department head at Calumet College of St. Joseph and has taught at Purdue University, Loyola University and South Suburban Community College. He has chaired departments of behavioral sciences and directed programs of psychology.  He has presented at Oxford, in Eastern Europe, and for the last four years has presented at The American Association of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
