Chabad hosts Jewish perspectives on staying positive

EAST HANOVER TWP. – Chabad of Southeast Morris County, serving East Hanover, will begin a new Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) course entitled “How Happiness Thinks: Jewish Perspectives on Positive Psychology” on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

The six–week course will meet on six consecutive Wednesdays at the Chabad Center located at 42 Park Ave in Madison. The course will be taught at two times each Wednesday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and from noon to 1:15 p.m.

“How Happiness Thinks” was created by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute- an internationally acclaimed adult education program running on over 350 cities worldwide, which boast over 75,000 students. This particular course builds on the latest observations and discoveries in the field of positive psychology.

“How Happiness Thinks” offers participants the chance to earn up to 15 continuing education credits from the American Psychological Association (APA), American Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).

“How Happiness Thinks” is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, and participants don’t have to have any prior experience or background in Jewish learning to attend and enjoy this course. Additionally, all JLI courses are open to the entire community and people from all backgrounds and affiliations are welcome.

The course fee is $75 which includes the course workbook and all materials. All attendees are welcome to attend the first class on Nov. 5 free of charge. There is also a special couple’s rate of $120.

“This course will share techniques to boost our happiness; such as humility, gratitude and meaningful living ,while helping to overcome the challenges that get in the way of our happiness, including stress, grief and self-concept,” said Rabbi Shalom Lubin, director of Chabad of SE Morris County.
