Casual Sex Can Be Good for You

While past studies have indicated that casual sex can have a detrimental affect on women, a new study from Cornell and NYU that ran in the journal Social Psychology and Personality Science claims differently (via Slate).

After studying a 12-week diary of the sexual activity of 371 NYU students, they determined that "sociosexually unrestricted" students (i.e. not repressed) reported higher well-being, less stress, and overall better emotional health after no-strings-attached sex.

It's no wonder they're having sex casually, since "sociosexually unrestricted" men don't exactly sound like dream boyfriends: The study describes them as "extroverted” and “impulsive" men who are more likely to be attractive, “physically strong,” and “more sexist, manipulative, coercive and narcissistic” than their peers. (As a former NYU student, I'm wondering where these men were hiding.)

TL;DR: Have casual sex if you want to; don't if you don't want to.
