1. Why are you running for office?

I have always believed in being an active participant in my community on behalf of what I believe in. Sometimes this has been volunteer work, sometimes paid positions in non-profits, and sometimes as an elected official, both paid and unpaid. I believe there are many issues and voices going unheard in our legislature. I want to help change that.

2. What do you see as the three biggest issues you’ll face?

Making our fiscal resources go as far as possible.

Lack of civil discussion of issues that are important to most voters.

Lack of focus on growing jobs and a stronger economy.

3. If elected, what steps will you take to resolve these issues?

One idea for legislation I have to save tax dollars is to remove precinct committee elections from our Primary Election ballots. Precinct Committee people are party officials, not public office holders and do not even pretend to represent everyone, yet those elections are held at public expense. The parties should select them at their own expense.

The most consistent feedback I receive from voters is the lack of balance and responsiveness from our elected officials. Many people feel that our current legislature does not listen to many voters on a wide variety of issues. I will respond to all voters and do my best to represent even those I may not agree with.

Time has been wasted on any number of side issues that appear to just play to one narrow philosophical and ideological point of view. I would spend my time and energies on efforts to improve our economy with practical legislation that focuses on job creation and building a positive climate for growing our Idaho workforce.

4. What specific skills or experience qualify you for this job?

I am a native and proud product of Kootenai County and our values. I am a good listener and team builder even with those of different points of view. I have over 30 years of leadership experience, have held three different local public offices, and been appointed to advisory positions by Idaho Governors of both parties.

5. Why should voters elect you, rather than an opponent?

I will represent all of the voters and taxpayers instead of just one political point of view. I have a long history of community service and being supported by members of all political parties because I listen to all points of view and treat people with respect. My experience, education, and temperament will best serve the voters in District two.
