As part of its Inquiry 2015 activities, Lebanon Valley College recognized students at the Spring Awards and Recognition Ceremony for academic achievement in the natural sciences, social sciences, or humanities.

Local students who received awards include:

• Victoria Gluszko of Lebanon, a graduate of Annville Cleona High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in philosophy and received the Award of Excellence in Philosophy.

• Kathleen Organtini of Fredericksburg, a graduate of New Covenant Christian School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in music business and received the Alumni Scholarship.

• Cassandra Stager of Myerstown, a graduate of Elco High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in art and art history and received the Art History Academic Excellence Award.

• Patrick Vares of Hummelstown, a graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in computer science and received the Outstanding Senior in Computer Science Award.

• Samuel Siegel of Lebanon, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in economics and received the Achievement Award in Economics.

• Jacob Topping of Lebanon, a graduate of Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science and bachelor of arts in music education and music and received the Martha U Peiffer and Dr. Harold S. Peiffer '42 Award in Music.

• Nicole Shepski of Hummelstown, a graduate of Red Land High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in English and received the Student Pennsylvania State Education Association Award for Excellence in Teaching Performance in Secondary Education and Senior Prize in English.

• Rebecca Wise of Jonestown, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology and received the Owen A. Moe Biochemistry Award.

• Amanda Boyer of Lebanon, a graduate of Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in criminal justice and received the Award for Professionalism and Commitment to the Discipline of Sociology.

• Martin Groff of Lebanon, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in English and German and received the Agnes Boyle O'Donnell Literature Award and The Dr. George R. Struble Memorial Award.

• Benjamin Carpenter of Lebanon, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in chemistry and received the College Writing Award and Andrew Bender Memorial Chemistry Award.

• Devon McKain of Palmyra, a graduate of Palmyra Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology and received the Jean O. Love Award for Outstanding Achievement in Psychology.

• Kayla McKain of Palmyra, a graduate of Palmyra Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology and received the Robert S. Davidon Award for Research in Psychology.

• Dina Lincoln of Bethel, a graduate of Rutherford High School, pursued a bachelor of arts in art and art history and received the Studio Art Academic Excellence Award.

• Amanda Ringenbach of Hummelstown, a graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education and received the Merle L. Wise '53 Memorial Fund Award.

• Karin Torrenegra-Castillo of Lebanon, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology and sociology and received the Sociology and Criminal Justice Research Award.

• Amanda Quinn of Palmyra, a graduate of Palmyra Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education and received the Cloyd H. Ebersole Scholarship.

• Kathleen Paone-Mankins of Fredericksburg, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in sociology and received the Award for Professionalism and Commitment to the Discipline of Sociology and Senior Award for Excellence in Sociology.

• Shelly Hunt of Palmyra, a graduate of State College Area High School, pursued a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education and received the Student Pennsylvania State Education Association Award for Excellence in Teaching Performance in Elementary Education.

• Lucas Gienow of Jonestown, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of music in music recording technology and received the Mund Scholarship.

• Christopher Simion of Newmanstown, a graduate of Elco County High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in biology and received the Medical Scholarship Award.

• Chante Beard of Lebanon, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and received the June E. Herr Scholarship for Elementary Education and Mund Scholarship.

• Jevon Weixler of Myerstown, a graduate of The PA Cyber Charter School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration and received the chievement Scholarship Award in Business Administration.

• Kaitlyn Good of Hershey, a graduate of Central Dauphin High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in English and received the Cloyd H. Ebersole Scholarship.

• Julia Beebe of Annville, a graduate of William Penn High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration and received the chievement Scholarship Award in Business Administration and Women's Club of Lebanon Scholarship Award.

Albright College

HONORS GT;GT; Several local students were recognized at Albright College's recent 2015 Honors Awards Ceremony.

• Drue Kessler, a sophomore English major from Bethel, received the Professor Clyde Harding Awards for Outstanding Scholarship in English and Communications.

•Alyssa Reimenschneider, a sophomore art/English major from Womelsdorf, received the Professor Clyde Harding Awards for Outstanding Scholarship in English and Communications.

• Christopher Bucks, a senior business administration/economics track/marketing major from Bethel, received the Alpha Sigma Phi Award in Memory of Chris Anthony '03 and Andrew Snitzer; and William E.C. and Mary Dearden Chair in Business Administration Scholars Award for Marketing.

Alvernia University

RESEARCH FELLOW GT;GT; Kelsey Schubert of Cleona, has been named a Student Undergraduate Research Fellow for the summer of 2015. Schubert is a junior chemistry/forensic science major at Alvernia University, Reading.

The Student Undergraduate Research Fellows program is an opportunity for students to experience scholarship, research, and the creative process in collaboration with faculty scholars. Fellows earn a $3,000 stipend and are granted free housing for the eight-week summer program. Schubert's project is titled "Determination of Ethanol Concentration in Gasoline of Various Octanes."

West Chester

HONORS GT;GT; Erika Flanick, daughter of Lee and Denise Flanick of Fredericksburg, received a 4.0 grade point average for both the 2014 fall semester and 2015 spring semester at West Chester University.

Flanick will perform the lead character of Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense at the Candlelight Theatre in Wilmington, Del., this summer.

She is a 2013 graduate of Northern Lebanon High School and is currently majoring in musical theatre and communications at West Chester.
