Mansfield University

Eric Scherer of Palmyra is a member of the 2014-15 Mansfield University men's track and field team.

Mansfield opened the season this past Saturday at the Brockport Early Season Invitational in New York.

Widener University

Lauren Oliva of Palmyra, a freshman early years/special education major, was one of 14 freshmen at Widener University, Chester, selected for the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader Program.

Select freshmen are chosen each year for the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader Program based on their high school academic record, commitment to serving their communities, and leadership potential.

Students in the program volunteer 300 hours of service each year, with 220 of those hours at a community partner site in Chester. Students also have the opportunity to experience an international service trip during their junior or senior year.

Each PSC/Bonner Leader receives an annual $5,000 scholarship in addition to any need-based financial aid or academic based scholarships.

Lebanon Valley College

Fifty Lebanon Valley College students recently presented their research at LVC's Fall 2014 Psychology Poster Session. Students gathered to share their experiences in Statistics Data Analysis Lab, Research Methods Lab, Child Development Lab, and Independent Lab Research.

Local student presenters include:

• Brian Remper of Newmanstown, who presented "The Bystander Effect: The Effect on Group Size on Bystander Intervention." Remper, a graduate of Elco High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in criminal justice and psychology.

• Cody Lloyd of Lebanon, who presented "Effects of Social Priming on Visual Perception." Lloyd, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology.

• Corey Wall of Jonestown, who presented "Personality Type and Stress." Wall, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

• Jennah Kuhn of Lebanon, who presented "Gender Identity and Academic Interests." Kuhn, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

• Jessica Meyer of Lebanon, who presented "Personality Type and Stress." Meyer, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

• Kelly Sorber of Jonestown, who presented "The Bystander Effect: The Effect on Group Size on Bystander Intervention." Sorber, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

• Lauren Kaighn of Lebanon, who presented "Personality Type and Stress." Kaighn, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

• Megan Cook of Palmyra, who presented "Birth Order's Relationship with Children's Personalities." Cook, a graduate of Palmyra Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

• Yamisel Martinez of Lebanon, who presented "The Bystander Effect: The Effect on Group Size on Bystander Intervention." Martinez, a graduate of Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology and sociology.

• Zachary Young of Myerstown, who presented "Procrastination Habits among College Students." Young, a graduate of Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology.

Alvernia University

Two local students were named to leadership positions for the 2014-15 academic year at Alvernia University, Reading.

• Tyler Arnold of Myerstown has been named President of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

• Allison Blackburn of Mount Gretna has been named senator of the Student Government Association.
