CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cambridge College is pleased to announce that Dr. Elwood L. Robinson has assumed his duties as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Robinson will oversee Cambridge College's academic deans and faculties, including the undergraduate and graduate programs, seven regional centers and other academic administrative functions.

While at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) for over twenty five years, Dr. Robinson served in a variety of leadership and academic roles.  As Dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, he had oversight of nine departments and chairs, four centers and directors, over 200 faculty and support staff, while also managing a state and research budget of 16 million dollars.  In addition he served as the Chair of the Department of Psychology for three years after becoming a full professor in 1996.

Dr. Robinson also has been a productive scholar with over four hundred scientific publications and presentations. At NCCU, he is credited for his work as the Director of the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) program which has grown to be one of the nation's largest and most productive programs of its kind. Dr. Robinson holds a B.A. in Psychology magna cum laude from North Carolina Central University, an M.A. in Psychology from Fisk University and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University.

A native of Ivanhoe, North Carolina, Dr. Robinson is married to Myra Denise and they have two children, Chanita and Devin.
