Brown County Community Resource Fair a Success

The first Brown County Community Resource Fair was held on Tuesday, April 28th, and was a huge success.  Connie Humphreys, a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology working for Brownwood ISD’s Team LEAP (Lion’s Education Assistance Program), coordinated with several individuals and groups to organize the event and was excited about the turnout.

“Approximately 255 adults attended the event, and many brought children,” reported Humphreys.  “The children enjoyed games, prizes, and books.”

A total of 44 agencies that provide services to children and families in Brownwood and Brown County were represented at the fair.  “Agencies stated that they were pleased with the turnout,” noted Humphreys. “They were pleased with the number of people who stopped and visited their tables and they expressed a desire to make this a yearly event.”

Organizations that helped to make The Brown County Community Resource Fair a reality included Brownwood ISD, Team LEAP, Community Resource Coordination Group, Heartland Mall, Family Service Center, Texas Juvenile Justice Department, 211 Texas and ESC Region XV.

Humphreys also expressed her thanks to the following organizations and people for their help in making the event a success: Bob Contreras and Jodie Armstrong (public relations team), Charles Musgrove (graphic design), Kim Peterson (Heartland Mall Manager), Pastor Fernando, R W Stewart Ministries, BHS Band, Dean Kiesling and Aaron Terry, and the student choirs from Northwest Elementary and Woodland Heights Elementary, Jessica Morgan (Coggin/East Music Teacher), HPU Flute Ensemble, Heaven’s Rains, Brownwood ISD Team LEAP Grant Counselors, CRCG and Family Services Center, Early Chamber of Commerce, Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, Brownwood Bulletin, BrownwoodNews.com, KTAB, Wendlee Broadcasting, KPSM, and KOXE.
