Brookline psychologist receives consultant certification

Marla Zucker, Ph. D., a licensed psychologist and owner of Boston Sport and Performance Psychology in Brookline, was recently designated a Certified Consultant by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, an international professional organization that promotes sport and exercise psychology.

In earning this certification, Zucker has met required AASP standards of education and training in the sport sciences and psychology and undergone a rigorous review process.

Through her private practice, Zucker works with athletes, teams, parents and coaches across all ages, sports and ability levels to maximize their mental fitness to achieve peak performance. Zucker has worked with NCAA collegiate sports teams, including conference champion basketball and tennis teams. In addition, she has counseled non-athlete performers, such as musicians, performing artists and actors.

Zucker’s background also includes expertise in trauma, including childhood abuse and neglect. She has conducted research on cutting-edge trauma treatment and is trained in EMDR and Critical Incident Stress Management.

Zucker received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Georgia State University, completed coursework in sport psychology at Boston University and earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University. In addition to AASP, Zucker is a member of the American Psychological Association. She is also listed in the U.S. Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.
