Bethan shrugs off illness to dazzle

Bethan Morris

JUST a month before some of the most important exams of her life, a horrible rash covered Bethan Morris’s body.

Doctors almost diagnosed Bethan, 18, with scarlet fever, but eventually said the severe symptoms pointed to a virus.

But the brave Cherwell School pupil defied all the odds to scoop great grades and is off to university.

She missed three weeks of school and revision, and was still weak when she returned, often having to sleep during the day.

She said: “I thought my illness had ruined my chances. I’d missed a lot of revision. I had been planning to do a business re-take but I dropped that, and I was ill for one of my psychology exams.

“I just had this really bad rash all over my body which made me really ill.

“No-one could figure out what it was. Even when the illness had gone I was still so tired.”

But Bethan still did well in her exams, getting an A in business studies, and Bs in psychology and biology and will now study psychology at Plymouth University.

She said: “I was so pleased. I was nervous, I didn’t know I had got into uni.”
