CHAUTAUQUA - New York Times best-selling author Dr. Kevin Leman will speak in Chautauqua Institution on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Hall of Philosophy. An internationally known Christian psychologist, award-winning author, speaker and radio and television personality, Leman has taught and entertained audiences worldwide with his wit and common sense psychology. Leman's topic is "Why You Are the Way You Are - Why Your Birth Order Matters."

Leman has made house calls for "Focus On The Family" as well as hundreds of radio and television programs including "Today," CBS's "The Early Show," "Fox Friends," "Oprah," and "The View." Leman has served as a consulting family psychologist to Good Morning America. As the founder and president of "Couples of Promise," an organization designed and committed to helping couples remain happily married, Leman conducts an annual cruise for couples only.

The author of 42 books, some of Leman's best-selling titles include: "Have a New Kid by Friday," "Making Children Mind without Losing Yours," "The Way of the Wise," "Have a New You By Friday" and "The Birth Order Book." A number of Leman's books are on DVD.

Leman is the co-author with his son, Kevin Leman II, of a series of illustrated children's books including the-award winning "My Adopted Child, There's No One Like You."

The recipient of the highest award given by the University of Arizona to their own, the Alumni Achievement Award, Leman is also the recipient of the 1993 Distinguished Alumnus Award presented by North Park University. He is a charter faculty member of iQuestions.com., an online resource where experts provide answers to life's toughest questions. Leman's professional affiliations include the American Psychological Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology.

Leman attended North Park University. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Arizona, where he later earned his master's and doctorate degrees. Originally from Williamsville, he and his wife, Sande, live in Tucson. They have five children and two grandchildren.
