Theodore Edward Bauch passed away on Dec. 11, 2011, at the age of 76. Born to Otto and Gabriel Josephine (Mack) Bauch in Milwaukee, on Nov. 19, 1935, Ted grew up in Racine, where he attended Lakeside Elementary School and graduated from Racine Lutheran High School. Following his graduation, he entered the army where he served as a control tower operator.

After discharge, Ted received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the UW-Milwaukee, went on to the University of Denver to attain a Master's Degree in Social Work, and was subsequently employed at Brown County Mental Health Center. Outreach services to Door County were part of Ted's caseload until the statewide redesign of services, when he became the full-time Mental Health Coordinator for the Door County Unified Board (now known as the Department of Community Services). He subsequently became the Program Director until his retirement in 1995.

People were drawn to Ted quite simply because Ted was drawn to people. He loved to travel and he made friends wherever he went, even if the common language between them consisted of only a few words. He shared stories, laughter, and life lessons with everyone he met. He had a deep attachment to the water; many will remember him standing at the helm with the sun on his face and the wind in his hair. His quick wit, positive outlook, unwavering kindness, and infectious laugh will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Katherine; three daughters, Eileen Patricia, Jennifer Lynn and Vanessa Marie; four grandchildren, Clint, Danielle, Aissa and Gabriella; three great- grandsons, Miguel, Matthew and Otto; one sister, Paula; one nephew, Christopher; and two nieces, Nina and Andrea. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant children, Theodore and Jessica.

Due to Ted's and his family's wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, Ted would be honored by donations to the charity of your choice.
