KARACHI: Bahria University is hosting an educational seminar on the theme of Community Empowerment and Positive Psychology. The event is being organized by the Institute of Professional Psychology, an independent unit at the University.
The guest speaker listincludes names from the field of psychology, social work, education and the media. Arif Hasan, a prominent social researcher, architect and urban planner will chair the first session and evaluate the papers presented by the speakers while speaking about the issues faced while living in Karachi and how we can work towards their solutions through community initiatives at the grassroots level.
Issues faced by women and the roads leading to their empowerment in the community are among one of the mainissues being focussed on in this seminar.
Dr Zainab Fotowwat Zadeh the Director of the Institute will highlight the collaboration between the students and communities involved in the Active Citizen’s projects. Vice Admiral (Retired) Khalid Amin, the Director General of Bahria University Karachi Campus and Vice Admiral (Retired) Asif Humayun Director General of the National Centre for Maritime Policy Research.
The Institute of Professional Psychology at Bahria University is the first partner with regard to the Active Citizen’s Program in Sindh and Balochistan and that the British Council will be using this as a model while expanding the program to other Universities in the region.**
