Bahira University holds 9th convocation

KARACHI: The Ninth Convocation of Bahria University Karachi was held on Sunday at its campus here, where gold and silver medals were conferred on students for their outstanding achievements in the academic career.

 

Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University and the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, conferred degrees on the graduating students of Masters and Undergraduate programmes.

 

In all, 821 students were awarded degrees. In the Masters Programmes, 240 students of Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Psychology, Earth and Environmental Sciences were awarded degrees. While 581 students of Undergraduate Programmes of Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Computer and Software Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Psychology were awarded degrees.

 

The Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila along with the Rector of Bahria University, Vice Admiral (Retd) Shahid Iqbal, awarded 21 Gold medals and 14 Silver medals to various students, who achieved top positions in their respective disciplines.

 

Gold medals and Silver medals were awarded to the students from each discipline to acknowledge their outstanding performance.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila congratulated the students and their parents on their splendid success and said that the role of Universities and Institutions have gained significant importance to impart quality education to the students and fostering competencies to make them better and productive citizens.

 

Bahria University is in the forefront of conceiving and implementing initiatives and programmes that fulfill the needs thrown by the challenges of globalisation with special focus on capacity building, he added.

 

The Pro-Chancellor congratulated Rector Vice Admiral Shahid Iqbal and assured fullest cooperation and support for the development of the University.

 

Earlier in his welcome address, Vice Admiral Shahid Iqbal expressed his gratitude to the Pro-Chancellor Bahria University and Chief of the Naval Staff for his presence in the convocation.

 

He said the University aspires for the culture of academic excellence and maintains high quality of standards in all spheres of life.

 

He also gave an overview on the progress made by various departments of the Bahria University Karachi Campus.

 

The Rector congratulated the students and their parents, and wished them a prosperous future.

 

He also admired the students honoured with gold medals and silver medals for their dedication and outstanding achievements in their academic career at the Convocation 2013 held on Sunday.
