Houk Artistic Director for Tennessee Williams Revival

Carolyn Houk, School of Communications adjunct faculty member and former Conservatory of Theatre Arts student, is the artistic director for the St. Louis theatrical debut of “Stairs to the Roof,” one of St. Louis native Tennessee Williams’ early plays now experiencing its first production in 67 years.

Reviews for “Stairs to the Roof” have heaped praise on the production, which runs through Nov 23 at the Boo Cat Club (formerly the St. Louis Artist’s Guild, where many of Williams’ plays were first produced). Seeing Williams’ lesser-known one-act plays and discussing his work with Williams scholars inspired Houk, who hopes that “Stairs to the Roof” is only the beginning of a revival of Williams’ work in his hometown. Her plan is to develop St. Louis’s own Tennessee Williams festival in 2015. See more on Facebook and ticket info.
