APSU Provost Lecture Series: Psychology professor to present session this week

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University psychology professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.

Dr. Stephen Truhon, professor of psychology, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, April 4th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The title of his presentation is “Operational Stress Control in the U.S. Navy.”

All sessions of the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public.

Truhon received a B.A. in psychology from the College of the Holy Cross, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan State University. Before coming to APSU, he taught at Valparaiso University, the University of Wisconsin Center at Wausau and Winston-Salem State University.

Trained in developmental psychology, Truhon became interested in military psychology as the result of summer research opportunities. He has participated in summer research programs at Armstrong Laboratory (Brooks Air Force Base) in San Antonio, Texas, at Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (Patrick Air Force Base), and most recently at Navy Personnel Research, Studies and Technology in Millington, Tennessee.

He has published several articles and presented many papers on military psychology at conferences, especially the International Military Testing Association. He gave an earlier version of this presentation at last year’s IMTA conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Sessions of the Provost Lecture Series also can be viewed in real time via online streaming. The sessions also are recorded and can be viewed later on APSU’s iTunes public site. Other sessions in the Provost Lecture Series also are planned for the academic year.

The Provost Lecture Series seeks to foster a spirit of intellectual and scholarly inquiry among faculty, staff and students. The program will be used as a platform for APSU faculty members who are recent recipients of provost summer grants, who have been awarded faculty development leaves and who have engaged in recent scholarly inquiry during sabbatical leaves.
