APA Convention gets underway in Hawaii

The 121st American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention has begun at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. This convention is running from today (July 31st) to August 4th and will include over 80 social hours and other networking events, with the entire field of psychology being covered by more than 800 sessions.

Representing an opportunity for those involved in psychology to connect with their colleagues and peers, the APA Annual Convention is also a family-friendly event that caters for all ages - indeed, there is a Kids Place located at the convention center where children will be kept entertained.

Various programmes will be run and sessions held over the course of the five-day gathering, with topics covered including social networking, clinical practice, eating disorders, racism, immigration and psychotherapy.

Attendees can take part in a number of activities at the event, including speed mentoring - where people get to quiz leading psychologists for 12 minutes at a time - and PsycCareers Live, which allows individuals to meet with employers at the APA convention career fair.
