After successfully defending his doctoral dissertation, Curtie E. Allee participated in The Chicago School of Professional Psychology commencement ceremony at the Civic Opera House in Chicago, Ill., on June 8, 2012. The degree of Doctor of Psychology in Business Psychology was conferred on Dec. 9. Dr. Allee's dissertation, title "New Employee Orientation: A Survey of Participant Experiences and Self-Report Outcomes," has been submitted for publication.
Present at the June ceremony were Dr. Allee's parents, Carl and Ruby Allee, and sisters, Shelbie Schatzer and Lisa Brown, who visited and explored Chicago June 7-10.
The commencement speaker was Joseph L. White, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine, a pioneer in African-American and ethnic psychology. Afterwards, graduates and their guests attended a reception in the Civic Opera House. Dr. Allee and his family celebrated with a seafood dinner at Glenn's Diner.
The group enjoyed a day of sightseeing Saturday beginning with a double-decker bus tour of downtown Chicago. After dinner, the group visited the Navy Pier to enjoy the Crystal Gardens and an evening boat ride complete with fireworks.
Sunday Dr. Allee and his sisters explored the Lincoln Park Zoo. Before departing Chicago, the group had lunch at Lou Mitchell's, which has been operating since 1923, and is located near Union Station.
Since August, Dr. Allee has worked as Manager of the Advancing Career and Education Program at The Stuart School of Business, which is part of The Illinois Institute of Technology. In this position, he both teaches and oversees a professional development and workplace immersion program for master's levels business, finance, and marketing students. Additionally, Dr. Allee is a consultant in the Leadership Education and Assessment Program, an initiative of the Business Psychology Department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology that provides professional development and career guidance to upper-management and executive-level professionals.
